Dinornis

Di·nor′nis (dī·nôr′nĭs), n. [NL., fr. Gr. δεινός terrible + ὄρνις bird.] (Paleon.) A genus of extinct, ostrichlike birds of gigantic size, which formerly inhabited New Zealand. See Moa. [Written also Deinornis.]
