Hellbender

Hell′bend′er (hĕl′bĕnd′ẽr), n. (Zoöl.) A large North American aquatic salamander (Protonopsis horrida or Menopoma Alleghaniensis). It is very voracious and very tenacious of life. Also called alligator, and water dog.
