Paramylum

Par·am′y·lum (păr·ăm′ĭ·lŭm), n. [NL., fr. Gr. παρά beside + ἄμυλον starch.] (Chem.) A substance resembling starch, found in the green frothy scum formed on the surface of stagnant water.
